The work I have submitted is a collection of my most recent work. The painting project included me painting an object secluded in ice (in my case a Barbie) with household paints such as glossy wall paint and varnish. The photography pieces for the ‘Aftermath’ project are a series of photographs taken of a range of objects that could be the evidence of an apocalyptic war. With these images, I edited the contrast and colour to create a more vintage, war-wrecked look. I have selected a few life drawings that show a different way of figurative drawing, where the figure is not quite in focus.
I am an energetic, focused person using critical and positive comments to improve on not only my artistic skills but also other life skills such as responsibility and team work. I believe that trial and error is important when learning as it not only defines my weakest skills, but also allows myself to gain better knowledge on my stronger skills and techniques. I enjoy visiting museums and art galleries, and knowing that there are many opportunities to visit galleries excites me. I have recently been to Modern Art Oxford, a museum that exhibited Thomas Houseago’s sculptures.
I am interested in the Fine Art course at Manchester Metropolitan University due to the desire I have to take fine art further within our generation and society. Fine Art is something I am interested in progressing with along with learning the critical views and ideas of my peers which I believe Manchester can offer me, and the chance to study here is something I am very intrigued about. Manchester is also a city I have only visited once, and I am excited at the prospect of viewing the city in the future.
